This recognition is due to the city’s sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) managing an astounding $1.7 trillion in assets.

As of October 2024, Abu Dhabi’s SWFs include major players like the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Mubadala (which includes the Abu Dhabi Investment Council and Mubadala Capital), ADQ (part of Lunate), the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Tawazun (which also covers EDGE), and the Emirates Investment Authority. Together, they manage this vast wealth.
