At 938 gigabits per second, University College London (UCL) researchers have broken the previous wireless data throughput record. Compared to current 5G networks, this is 5,000 times quicker.
They were able to do this by integrating radio and optical techniques, which helped avoid crowded radio channels. This innovation is expected to soon result in extremely fast 6G networks.
Activities that now take minutes or hours will be completed in seconds with 6G. For example, it would only take 0.12 seconds to download a 4K Ultra HD movie. Likewise,, it would decrease the slowdowns we commonly experience by increasing internet speed in crowded places like stadiums and shopping centers.
The development takes us one step closer to a time when everyone can access honest, extremely fast internet.
