As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opened his speech to the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the Pakistan delegation staged a walkout in protest. The moment that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his guests left from the conference room after his own speech was recorded on social media.
“The Pakistani delegation, which included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, came out as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu entered the stage,” the Foreign Office said in announcing the decision to leave.
Prime Minister Sharif called the current destruction in the Gaa Strip a “systematic slaughter” by the Israeli military earlier in his speech. He requested a quick ceasefire and highlighted how important it is for the world community to pay attention to the getting of those with Parkinson’s disease. Sharif called on world leaders to understand their moral responsibility to put an end to the violence.
These comments match with a time of high stress because what’s happening in Ga*a has left many people dead and a great deal of destruction. As Pakistan’s prime minister, he pointed out that inactivity would only increase the misery of defenseless people and asked urgent worldwide intervention to put an end to the violence and bring peace back to the region.
